REGIONAL SUPPORT THROUGH CDSE

A flying visit from Minister for Gaming and Racing, Graham West, saw the Burringbar Sports Club receive a State grant to further develop their facilities.

Pictured with Doug White, Chairman of the South Tweed Sports Club, Max Boyd, Tweed Shire Administrator and Ron Lewis, Director of Twin Towns Services Club, the fund provided by the State supplement the ongoing support regional Tweed gains from the Tweed Shire Council and the Tweed Clubs under the Community Development and Support Expenditure Scheme (CDSE).

Local clubs partner to create a fund which is used to support the smaller townships and communities in the Tweed Shire. Recent projects have also included Tyalgum / Chillingham Facilitated Development project, Uki Public Hall and Recreation Reserve and at Kungar Rural Fire Brigade. The fund ensures that communities not located close to our major clubs do not miss out in the CDSE grants program and the Tweed Shire Council and Department of Community Services Representatives provide guidance on prioritising the many requests that are received.

Burringbar Sports is an example of clubs spreading the social and sporting wealth of New South Wales where it would otherwise not be attainable. We are glad to have been able to support their efforts.
