To Honour ANZAC Centenary

To Honour ANZAC Centenary

Posted on 01-Mar-2015

In the moments before the first rays of sunlight peek over the horizon on ANZAC Day, Jack Evans Boat Harbour at Tweed Heads will become a giant outdoor stage for a dramatic re-enactment of the dawn landing by the ANZACs on the beach at Gallipoli.

Funded by an Australian Government ANZAC Centenary Grant, the re-enactment on ANZAC Day, 25 April 2015, is expected to bring thousands of people to the boat harbour parklands behind Twin Towns to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Gallipoli.

Adding to its authenticity, the Gallipoli re-enactment will get underway at approximately 4.30am. Two massive 6 metre wide video screens will be positioned in the parklands to ensure all those attending have a good view of the proceedings.

The Gallipoli re-enactment will be followed by the Tweed Coolangatta RSL Sub-branch Dawn Service at 5am, which is predicted to be the biggest in the border towns’ history.

The program this Anzac Day has been amended from previous years in recognition of the ANZAC Centenary. No items found.
