Trigeneration at Club Banora

Trigeneration at Club Banora

Posted on 24-Sep-2014

Club Banora will cut annual energy costs by approximately $125,000 and will reduce carbon emissions by 30% with a new 230 kW Trigeneration system.  Co- funded by the Australian Government’s Community Energy Efficiency Program (CEEP),  the project's return on investment is 25% and its payback period will be just over 4 years.

Club Banora is proud to announce the largest sustainability project in the history of the town.  The state-of-the-art Trigeneration system will produce low-carbon electricity onsite, and will use waste heat for heating two outdoor swimming pools during winter, opening this area for members all year round. In summer, the waste heat will be used to running a low-energy Absorption Chiller to provide comfort cooling to the Club’s main building.

Club Banora will now generate more than half of its electricity demand while reducing carbon emissions by 740 tonnes per year, which is equivalent to planting 7,400 new trees every year. The system will deliver energy savings for over 20 years, providing lifetime benefits for its members and the local community.
