John Macdonald started his Showbiz career in his native Scotland at an early age, firstly playing the drums, piano, then his chosen instrument the piano accordion.In those formative years John toured throughout Scotland as featured accordionist working many Summer Seasons on the Theatre circuit, and also appeared regulary on Grampian Television in Aberdeen. He has toured with, and supported many overseas acts including Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Des O'Connor,Kenneth McKellar,Andy Stewart, Johnnie Ray, Al Martino,Frank Ifield,The Drifters,The Krankies, Sir Harry Secombe, and has appeared on all major Cruise Lines throughout the world.
John is well established as a recording artist, and many of his albums have gone "Gold" and most of them have been released Worldwide. His 50th Album "Years Apart" includes some of his most requested "On Stage" favourites...ranging from Scottish, Irish, Semi Classical, to his favourite French musettes, and has been acclaimed for showing his diverse accordion talents....and special versions of tunes like "Highland Cathedral" and "Lift the Wings' from River Dance.
He has appeared on several Theatre Concert Tours throughout Australia including the popular Production of "The Bravehearts of Scotland" Spectacular - where he appeared to capacity audiences at venues including the Brisbane Concert Hall, Melbourne Concert Hall, and the Sydney Opera House. plus a two week tour with the production “A Tribute to the Tartan” throughout Queensland theatre Venues. One critic recently wrote regarding John's performance: "Ace accordionist John Macdonald demonstrated his ability brilliantly. His skilful playing and infectious good humour were a winning combination.His expertise on the Piano Accordion is simply magical, coupled to his rapport with the patrons"
Mary Kiani is one of Scotland's greatest exports of Song! Well known as the Scottish Songbird who was originally signed with Mercury Records, she has had many international hits in the dance and pop music genre throughout the 90's in her homeland of Scotland, the British Isles, Europe and Australia. It was in 1997 that Mary was invited to perform out here in Australia. She then found her song writing partner Steve Peach and many more songs were released throughout the years.
Being a true Scot in Australia Mary hosts her own ‘Burns Suppers’ every year and has seen it grow from strength to strength. In 2011 Mary headlined ‘The Murrayfield Ball’ and sang alongside Pipe band ‘Clan Macleod’. Mary has been the headline artist for ‘Bundanoon (Brigadoon) highland gathering for the last 3 years.Starting off the day by singing our national anthem ‘Flower of Scotland’ Mary is in the process of producing a new Scottish album especially for the 40th year anniversary of Bundanoon HG next year.
She’s so Scottish she plays Scottish snare drum and also has just started on the bag pipes. Mary performed back home in Scotland recently and joined ‘The Red Hot Chilli Pipers’ for four theatre dates on their world tour.
