“Howzat, The Nips are Getting Bigger”

Coming together for one exciting night Daryl Braithwaite and Mental as Anything will perform live. Where else could you see Australian Music Royalty on one stage performing Iconic hit after Iconic hit.

Daryl and the Mentals are Legends in the music industry with numerous #1 hits, far too many to list.  So don’t miss out on this very rare event and witness for yourself why these brilliant entertainers are still going strong after decades of performing to packed audiences world wide.

Mental As Anything started off as students who put a band together to play blues, Sixties pop, rockabilly and increasingly their own original compositions just to fill in time at art school in Sydney in the mid 1970s. They caught the attention of new independent label Regular Records and in Christmas 1978 “The Nips are Getting Bigger” was hitting heights surprising everyone including the band.  It became their first National hit with Festival Records in 1979 and so their illustrious career began.

Their LP "Get Wet" was released and what followed was a solid stream of hit records through the1980s and into the 1990s: Hits, too many to mention, just kept coming such as, “If You Leave Me Can I Come Too”, “Live it up”, “Too Many Times” and “Mr Natural”.   The band released Albums and had success overseas and toured the US, Canada, Britain, Germany and more.  Leaving devoted fans in their wake.

Mental as Anything’s lead vocalist Martin Plaza with his unique voice and Greedy with his antics and anecdotes, are the two original members who have continued touring with the band and entertaining audiences and perfecting the art of simply being “Mental”.

Daryl Braithwaite’s distinguished career spanning more than three decades, is one of Australia's award winning premier performers. His unmistakable voice is the reason for hit after hit with the band of his early career, SherbetThroughout the 70's, Sherbet produced 20 national Top 40 singles with unforgettable hits such as Howzat and Summer Lovin’. They were the first Australian band to top the one million dollar mark in album sales in the country.

Following his success with Sherbet, Daryl’s solo performing took off in 1988 with the release of the phenomenally successful album "Edge" enjoying over a year on the national charts.  Daryl toured extensively not only in Australia, but also in Canada, USA, UK and Europe adding to incredible sales figures for "Edge".  From his extremely successful Album “Rise” The Horses’, held number 1 position on the national charts for 3 weeks and was voted the Australian Song of the Year in 1991.

Daryl’s illustrious career hasn’t come to a halt, with the release of his latest album ‘Forever the Tourist” featuring his single “Not Too Late”.  And Sony has recently released another single  “Beautiful Feeling” highlighting the wonderful voice we never tire of.

Now an unbelievably fit 65, when Daryl was asked about his latest chapter in his life, he said "I guess I still look at life in a positive way," Daryl says. "I have my son Oscar who is 27, I am happy with my life and don't have that many qualms or troubles … as yet. The songs mainly are trying to reflect that positivity."

Get in quick to see these Australian legends in a double bill not to be missed.

And if it couldn’t get any better, you will also have the pleasure of Special Guest, Peter Cupples who  first came into prominence in 1975 as lead singer and songwriter for Stylus with hits, Summer Breeze, World of Make Believe  and So much Love to name a few.  Peter’s career has also spanned decades and continues do so.
