Special things happen to special people, and one such RSL Sub-Branch ex-service woman, Lieutenant Karin Leepere, recently received a very special honour.

Karin was presented with a Gold Service Medallion and Certificate of Appreciation from the Chief of Navy by Captain Tish Van Stralen CSC, RAN, Director Navy People Career Management Agency. Last month, Captain Van Stralen flew from Canberra for the day to personally make the presentation at the RSL Sub-Branch.

“I’m extremely proud to present this recognition to Karin, one of our highly valued ex-service women and I wish to commend her for 38 years of dedicated service to the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).

“It’s an honour and a privilege to present this to Karin and have the opportunity to pass on congratulations on behalf of the Chief of Navy and our officers and sailors of the RAN,” said Captain Van Stralen.

Karin joined the Royal Australian Navy in 1981 as a Writer, a role that involved human resources, personnel management and administration. She had a long list of shore postings, including HMA Ships Harman, Kuttabul, Waterhen, Cairns, Nirimba; and sea postings to HMA Ships Moresby, Tarakan, Adelaide and Kanimbla. Congratulations also go to Karin from the RSL Sub-Branch team and the Board and Management at Twin Towns.
