Madison Cooper, Cindy Grech and Kim Cooper getting into the spirit of Moolies and Doolies.

While schoolies let their hair down in Surfers Paradise or Byron Bay, mums and dads will be getting their hair wet during Tweed Heads and Coolangatta’s newest festival, Moolies and Doolies.

A pair of Southern Gold Coast entrepreneurs came up with the perfect solution for parents during schoolies week, one which takes away the stress of the kids being so far away but still keeps mum and dad at arm’s length from the schoolies crowds.

Moolies and Doolies runs from Friday 15 November to Sunday 8 December. Accommodation packages for parents come with all-inclusive peace of mind. A 24 hour help line and medical support crew will be on call for schoolies, while mums and dads embark on an action-packed, water fuelled week of fun on the Southern Gold Coast.

Packages include seven nights’ accommodation, a seafood lunch river cruise, stand-up paddle board lessons, a day trip to Byron Bay including a tour of Madura Tea farm, a visit to the lighthouse, two hours of free time in Byron, and a stop-in at the famous Tumbulgum pub. With other local venues also on board, such as Greenmount and Rainbow Bay Surf Clubs, there’ll be plenty to do for everyone.

A two-hour surfing and lunch experience with Gold Coast legend Rabbit Bartholomew is on offer and Twin Towns has a line-up of 80s Showroom entertainment to keep the Moolies and Doolies rocking. On Saturday 23 November, Go West, Pseudo Echo, Wang Chung and more join forces for 80s Mania in the Showroom. Country music fans can head to Lee Kernaghan on 29 or 30 November, followed by Australia’s favourite Abba show, Bjorn Again, on 7 December.

Those that book and pay for their Moolies and Doolies package by 30 September will go in the draw for a VIP experience. Mantra Twin Towns has hotel rooms during Moolies and Doolies from $920 per person for seven nights. Other accommodation options are available.
